ASG Florida Players and Coaches Report to Pre-Season Training Camp
August 6th-8th, 2010
We have an exciting weekend ahead of us at ASG Florida for the weekend of August 6-8, 2010. The weekend will serve as our pre-season weekend for players and staff. We have an excellent weekend planned. US National Team Staff Coach Dave Dir and Dave Kunitz are making a special trip to ASG Florida for this kickoff event.
Dave Dir was born in Anchorage, Alaska and is one of the most successful Professional American Coaches in US Soccer History. Dave played professionally as a goalkeeper for the Chicago Sting in the NASL, and was the Sting’s first draft pick in 1981. He made his coaching debut in youth soccer as a goalkeeper coach for the Colorado ODP program in 1988 and has been a member of the Regional and National staff, where he started the highly successful 00 Goalkeeper Schools. He has been a successful Head Coach at the High School, Collegiate, Club, and Professional level. As Head Coach of the Dallas Burn, Dave holds the record for longest tenure with one team in MLS History, as well as forth highest all-time win-record in league history. He won the U.S. Open Cup, the oldest Professional Cup Championship in the U.S., with Dallas in 1997 and back-to-back APSL Championships with the Colorado Foxes in 92 and 93. Coach Dir is the president of ASG National and an Asst. Coach for the US Men’s U-20 National Team. Coach Dir works as a color commentator for ESPN, Fox, and Local Networks where he contributes through his vast knowledge of the game and his personal insight as a long-time Coach in the MLS. Dave also served as co-host on World Cup Tonight for the 2002 World Cup. Coach Dir holds a USSF A License and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
Dave Kunitz was born in Canada and played for the University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma in 1998. From 2000-2002, Kunitz played with the Oklahoma City Hatters before joining the Tulsa Roughnecks from 2002-2004. He was hired as the USAO assistant coach in 1999 and coached the Chickasaw High School Boy's team since 2002. He coached for the Edmond Soccer Club where he coached the ESC '92 Boys Black, '89 Girls Black and '95 Girls Black. Coach Kunitz holds an USSF A License and serves as the Academy Director for ASG Dallas.
